NEWARK – Newark Rotary Camp Enterprise is set to run next week, June 8-10. There are 51 students, representing 10 high schools in Licking County participating in Camp Enterprise. Participating students will be seniors at their respective schools this coming fall.
An annual Newark Rotary event for more than 35 years, Camp Enterprise offers a unique opportunity for a select group of students nominated by their home schools to learn about best business practices, the free enterprise system, and practice what they learn by competing as “companies” throughout the three-day event.
From strategic planning to developing a loan request to working with local government, students at Camp Enterprise will get the chance to interact with local experts, government, and business representatives – many of them Rotary members. Each “company” will have a hands-on opportunity to learn about effective marketing strategies. The Newark Rotary Club will award up to four scholarships worth $500 to 1,000 each to participating students.
Camp Enterprise begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8. It will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Retreat Center, the former PIME, located off Thornwood Drive in Newark. The event will conclude on Thursday, June 11 with a dinner and awards ceremony for the students, their parents, Rotary Members and guests.
