Job Description:  Membership & Affiliate Director, Licking County Chamber of Commerce

This is an exciting opportunity to join the staff at the Licking County Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is a high profile nonprofit organization that works with the county’s business community to build a strong local economy through economic development, political action and membership programs.  The membership & affiliate director position offers the opportunity to interface with businesses of all sizes and types in an exciting work environment. The position requires strong organizational, communication and presentation skills, personal initiative, and the ability to multitask. The successful candidate will work to build the Chamber’s membership base through direct sales, digital and mail campaigns as well as other creative approaches. This individual will coordinate regular programming for diverse affiliate groups that include Safety Council, HRMA and Manufacturers’ Council.  A synopsis of the responsibilities and qualifications are detailed below.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Introduce, present the value of and sell new Chamber membership packages to businesses and organizations in the Licking County region
  • Develop leads and maintain an active prospect database
  • Create, manage, and distribute member prospect packets, questionnaires and survey results, and related communications for new and existing member opportunities
·         Develop systems and schedules so that members are “touched” by the Chamber with regularity
·         Provide customer service support to new and existing membership
·         Act as a liaison to Chamber members, reviewing membership data and educating members about Chamber benefits, services, and involvement opportunities
·         Manage Affiliate meetings, programming, steering committees, reservations, reports, budget, minutes and billing
·         Adept at public speaking, and confident when addressing a variety of audiences
·         Create and maintain current member records and reservations, including, but not limited to Chamber Master Software.
·         Maintain an extensive knowledge of all Chamber programs, services, initiatives and activities
·         Actively support and participate in Chamber events and programs


Qualifications:

·         Strong interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships with prospects, members, committees and community stakeholders
·         Experience and success in developing compelling written, oral and visual presentation materials
·         Ability to organize, plan and prioritize workload involving multiple projects
·         Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team
·         Results-oriented and willingness to be accountable for measurable goals
·         Ability to prospect/cold-call new businesses and to upgrade current members’ investment levels
·         Capable of maintaining sensitive/confidential information
·         Must be a team player that works well in fast-paced, changing environment
·         Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel and Word
·         Experience with database management programming a plus
·         Candidate must have 3-5 years relevant experience in a non-profit or business setting
