My husband called me to tell me about a woman he met today. Her name is Jayann Sepich. She is the mother of Katie Sepich, who was attacked, raped, strangled, set on fire and abandoned at an old dump. She was 22 years old. You can read the complete story here: http://www.katieslaw.org/.
Mrs. Sepich was able to get a law passed in the New Mexico legislature which requires everyone who is arrested on a felony charge to get their cheek swabbed for DNA. This law has had an incredible impact on catching criminals quicker, decreasing their chances of repeating their crimes.
To date, 21 states have already enacted this legislation. Ohio is NOT one of them.
